Biografie

Präzision, Wärme und ein Gespür für Dramatik.

Der in Estland geborene Dirigent Mihhail Gerts lebt in Berlin und hat mit mehr als fünfzig Berufsorchestern gearbeitet, darunter das Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, die Staatskapelle Dresden, das BBC Symphony Orchestra, das Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France und das NHK Symphony Orchestra.

Die Oper prägt seine Arbeit. Als Hausdirigent der Estnischen Nationaloper (2007–2014) sowie als 1. Kapellmeister und stellvertretender Generalmusikdirektor am Theater Hagen (2015–2017) leitete er mehr als vierzig Opern- und Ballettproduktionen; seither dirigierte er unter anderem am Teatro La Fenice und an der Opéra de Saint-Étienne.

Sein Repertoire reicht von Monteverdi und Bach über Brahms, Ravel und Prokofjew bis zu Arvo Pärt und zeitgenössischen Uraufführungen. Als Gründer und künstlerischer Leiter des TubIN Festivals in Estland setzt er sich engagiert für die Musik Eduard Tubins ein.
